Big, exciting news alert!
The best seafood on the planet deserves to be paired with the best ingredients on the planet. And that’s why I’m beyond excited to tell you all about WAC’s brand new Marinated & Seasoned Collection, our newest offering for members available this week. Think fancy restaurant level dining made effortless.
Each offering in the Marinated & Seasoned Collection is literally packed with flavor, already pre-seasoned, pre-marinated, or pre-paired with ingredients to help you build a delicious, effortless home-cooked meal in about 10 minutes. It’s made-from-scratch simplicity, featuring ingredients that are as high-quality and flavorful as the seafood that it accompanies. All you have to do is thaw and cook for a convenient meal that tastes like it belongs on a restaurant menu.
Here’s the dynamic new lineup of species and flavor pairings that are ready to cook, right out of the pack:
- Sockeye Salmon With Teriyaki Glaze: The pre-marinated salmon teriyaki is the perfect balance of umami and sweetness. It’s not overly sweet like many store bought teriyaki sauces, which allows you to taste the savory complexity that’s been layered into the marinade. Pro tip for this one: While the salmon is cooking, I like to simmer the excess marinade in a little saucepan until it becomes saucy to spoon over the fish when it’s ready.
- Sablefish With Miso Marinade: Our son’s absolute favorite species and preparation. For many years now, this has been one of my go-to dishes to make for him because it’s quick, satisfying, and easy. But having it pre-marinated means that I don’t even need to go into my pantry to make it.
- Pacific Halibut With Lemon & Herb Compound Butter: I recently baked this en papillote over some spring vegetables for Arron, and he said, “This might be the best halibut I’ve ever had.” Despite the butter having come right out of the pack (by the way, it’s a rich, European-style butter source from family farms here in the U.S.) I was utterly flattered to have prepared halibut in a way that could impress a man from Homer, Alaska, the “Halibut Capital of the World.” The funny thing is that the compound butter pairing did most of the work, basting the fish in a bright, herbaceous flavor profile as it melted over the fillet.
- Wild Alaska Pollock Quick Cuts With Dockside Spice Blend: These are a smoky, savory, and easy option for pairing with everything from salads to protein bowls to tacos. There are a lot of ingredients that go into the Dockside Spice Blend, and this brings so much delectable complexity to a species that I often think of as a “blank canvas” for flavor.
In dreaming up the Marinated & Seasoned Collection, we endeavored to craft offerings that make it easier for you to prepare chef-worthy seafood at home any day of the week, no matter the occasion. But we also see these new offerings as an extension of our mission to support a more sustainable, nourishing food system beyond our wheelhouse of Alaskan seafood.
Every ingredient that goes into the Marinated & Seasoned Collection is wholesome and sourced intentionally — with the same level of stewardship and integrity that we have when sourcing wild-caught seafood. Think fair trade organic spices from traceable supply chains; some of the best-tasting butter you’ve ever had in your kitchen, from pasture-raised cows raised on a family dairy farm; top quality miso made using traditional Japanese practices. The end result is delicious food with a rich story to match.
It truly was a labor of love to create these new offerings for you, and we are absolutely thrilled for you to have them in your kitchen. You can add Marinated & Seasoned offerings to your next box here. I cannot wait to see how you serve these up at your kitchen tables!
Live Wild,
Monica
